Clinic with Kyoshi Ron Martin

A one-and-a-half hour session for Junior students. This will take place at the House of the Samurai in Londonderry, NH. Cost is $20 - parents are welcome to stay and watch.

12:30 - 4:30pm The Skills, Strategies and Secrets of Kyoshi Ron Martin - Adult Clinic
A four-hour clinic for Teens and Adults. This will take place at the House of the Samurai in Londonderry, NH. Cost is $40.
The "Karate Family Reunion" buffet is expected to occur immediately following the Adult Clinic. Projected cost is between $10 and $15 per person - I will update this information once I have a definite number.
11:00am - Black Belt Promotion Ceremony - This is open to the public.
Note to Rising Sun Martial Arts students: One of our instructors, Shidoin-Dai Scott Ayen, will be receiving his Black Belt in Kobudo (weapons) at this ceremony. Scott will be the first student of RSMA to earn a Black Belt in a second art. Please come and show your support.

Who Is Kyoshi Ron Martin? Those of us who have studied under Hanshi Bernard know very well that Kyoshi Ron Martin was his teacher in the art of Goju Ryu Karate-do. Many of us are also aware that he was the Captain of the first USA Karate Team, which toured the world, undefeated.
In going back through my correspondences with Hanshi, while updating this page, I came across an e-mail that I must have missed earlier. It contained the following list of accomplishments that can only be attributed to a competitor of Kyoshi Ron Martin's caliber:

Won every state championship in New England, including the overall New England Championship.

Won the East Coast Championship.

Won the National Championship in Canada, twice.

Won the Central American Championship, twice.

Won the South American Championship, twice.

Was a certified Referee at the World Championships in Long Beach, CA.

Coached the team from the Philippines to the quarter finals of that same World Championship Competition, even though they had only four fighters instead of five. (Both their fifth fighter and their coach were very ill. As the only certified coach available, Kyoshi agreed to coach them so that they would not have made that long trip for naught.)

Won a total of 299 first place trophies over a period of just under 8 years.

Once went 2 years and 11 months without a single loss - winning over 4,000 individual matches over the course of his career.
